Project Budget: $40 Million
Construction Starts: Fall 2016
Projected Opening: Fall 2018
Overview:
Renovations will include building improvements and removal of all portable classrooms on the campus in downtown Long Beach. The visual and performing arts magnet school was opened in 2004 on the site where the first high school in LA County outside the City of Los Angeles was built in 1898.
The school was completely rebuilt twice after it was destroyed by fire in 1918 and again by the Long Beach earthquake of 1933.
The district's Office of Media Services is also housed on the campus.
