The Long Beach Unified School District and Long Beach City College are partnering March 13 to host a Contractor/Vendor Outreach Fair to promote local business participation in upcoming school bond projects.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Long Beach City College, 4901 E. Carson St. Building T, Long Beach. Registration is strongly encouraged. Registration deadline extended: register by March 10. Free parking will be available in Parking Lot M.
About 100 individuals representing a variety of construction fields are expected to convene to learn about job opportunities on building and renovation projects in the next year. School district and college facilities staff will provide information about how to qualify to bid on a wide range of projects, from small to large. For projects over $500,000, companies are required to pre-qualify to bid by registering online.
Also represented at the event will be pre-approved general contractors for LBUSD who are seeking subcontractors and skilled workers for dozens of construction and repair projects funded by the $1.5 billion Measure E school bond program.
"We really want to reach out to local companies and workers, so that we can keep our contracting dollars within the community," said Alan Reising, executive director of Facilities Development and Planning. Reising said the outreach partnership with LBCC began last year to enable both entities to offer opportunities locally.
LBUSD has conducted five such outreach fairs in the past. More contractor information here.
