At Sato Academy of Mathematics and Science, a new 25,000 square-foot classroom building is being built using modular construction techniques that save money and time.
The construction method is called Project Frog, an acronym for "flexible response to ongoing growth."
One of the largest air conditioning/ modernization projects in the school district is underway at Lakewood High School. The 32-acre campus is the first high school being renovated with Measure E funds, approved by voters in 2016.
Renovations started last fall at the 3,200-student high school with Building 2000, which is now completed.
When Brenton Owens was a junior in high school, he wasn’t sure what career he would choose. Then he attended a conference for engineering at the Long Beach Convention Center.
"As soon as I found out what engineering was all about, I knew I was very interested," he recalled.
