  • On peak construction days, there are more than 100 workers building new schools such as Browning High.

  • Measure K Bond program expenditures are audited annually and reviewed regularly by the Citizens’ Oversight Committee.

  • After all $1.2 billion of the Measure K Bond funds are spent, there will be more than $2 billion worth of improvements needed by Long Beach Unified School district campuses.

Happy to See New Campus

Frances Ishii was a fourth grader at Roosevelt Elementary School when she and her kindergartner sister were suddenly pulled out of class and relocated with their parents and other Japanese Americans to the Santa Anita detention center in Arcadia, California.

El Camino Construction Expands in Long Beach

Although it was a small job—installing a wheelchair ramp in front of Lowell Elementary School—it was a job that a small local company was happy to get. "We're hoping this will get our foot in the door for more school and municipal work," said Miguel Guajardo, president of El Camino Construction and Engineering Corp.
