  • The largest Measure K project, a major renovation of Jordan High School, is scheduled to start in January 2014, with installation of temporary classrooms so that students can remain on site during the multi-year construction period.

  • Measure K is funded by property taxes paid by home owners and business owners within the Long Beach Unified School District.

  • With demolition complete, the re-building of the new Roosevelt Elementary School and Newcomb Academy are set to begin in late fall.

The public is invited to preview the new McBride High School in Long Beach from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. Returns to Career Tech Ed Roots

Iteris, Inc. After starting off his career as a woodshop teacher, Steve Rockenbach is returning to his roots in a 21st Century school that offers an entirely new approach to career technical education.


Cabrillo High School's outdoor aquatics center is nearing completion, with opening set for this fall. The 40-meter pool will serve both the physical education classes and a competitive swim and water polo program. Bleachers for 240 spectators are included in this Measure K project.
The new gymnasium and field project is underway at Perry Lindsey International Studies Magnet. The 14,000-square-foot gym is scheduled to open at the middle school in fall 2014.
